After reading this post on Kaelah Bee’s blog (and this post that she just posted as i write this), i decided to try a fun shopping experience called StitchFix. Basically, you pay $20 and this company sends you 5 different clothing items and/or accessories and you decide what you want to keep or send back. If you keep any items, the $20 goes towards the credit of the item(s) and if you keep all 5 items, you get a pretty good discount on top of that. If you don’t keep any items or have to send anything back, they provide you with a pre-paid envelope to send everything back so all you have to do is slip it in the mailbox! I did my ‘fix’ last week and loved it. I think it’s a really fun way to shop because you never know what you’re going to get, and you might get something that you love but normally wouldn’t try in the store. Basically, you get on the StitchFix list and when they’re ready to style for you, they email you. You then pay your $20 and fill out a survey that tells them your fashion style, sizes and price points. Next, all you have to do is wait for your package! Here’s what i received in my box (i also got a silver locket that isn’t pictured)….

This package was definitely color coordinated because i basically got two pieces in each color tone. They also send you a little card that shows how the item can be worn, which is handy for someone who lacks a lot in fashion as i do. Anyhow. Everything fit me perfectly and i could’ve kept it all but i chose to send the sweater back and the locket mentioned earlier. The sweater was just out of season and the locket was a bit on the small side. The salmon cardigan almost got sent back but it went with the gray dress so well with a belt that i kept it. I probably wouldn’t even take a second look at the cardigan in the store but because it was sent to me to try, it worked out. The gray dress could also be perfect for fall and winter so i opted to keep it as well. As for the salmon polka-dot dress, i love it!  Here it is worn:

It really is the perfect spring dress.

I definitely recommend trying StitchFix at least once. I think it’s a great concept and it’s really fun. Let me know if you try anything out! I’d love to see what you get.

Nice! After I saw you posting something about it (twitter maybe?) I headed over to their site to see what it was all about. I put my name down; I hope they email me soon! This all looks great! I want to see the gray dress and the cardigan on you!

  2. Whoa, what a cool concept! I want to go try it out RIGHT NOW. We’ll see how it goes!

  3. Interesting! Yep we need photos of the grey dress too. 😉

  4. I love this idea, and I love what they sent you!
My only concern would be figuring out sizing, did everything you receive fit?
